Appliance Talk Small Appliances

Look out – dynamic colour is reinventing the hitherto dull-grey world of kitchen appliances.

Industry leaders such as Morphy Richards are providing bright, bold alternatives to the neutral colours that traditionally dominate the kitchen.

Nick Chernin, small appliance buyer at Appliances Online, says that colour has become the defining trend for 2012.

“We see people buying toasters, kettles, and even irons to match their splashbacks… people are becoming much more bold and inventive with colour, and our range of small appliances at Appliances Online reflects this trend,” he says.

Morphy Richards is leading the charge to explore the available palette – with their very cool Accents selection. This range stylishly mixes a vivid dash of colour with a very hip retro appeal.

“Morphy Richards kettles and toasters come in a range of rich colours,” says Chernin. “And are often purchased to be a standout feature of the kitchen.”

Smeg have also found success going beyond neutral tones – notably with their range of jelly-bean coloured dishwashers and fridges.

Interestingly, they also mix retro chic with these dynamic hues (from cherry red to lime green) for a very funky look.

Meanwhile, stand-out finishes will be the focus of Breville’s 2012 range of kettles and toasters – to be brought out in time for Mother’s Day.  Anticipated highlights include a very delicious shade of “Cranberry Red”.

Embrace the colour

Whatever your taste, the trend toward bold, dynamic colourful appliances gives the consumer a chance to revitalise an otherwise banal looking kitchen without forking out massive amounts for a full renovation.

Traditionally the domain of dull colours and boring stainless steel, a colourful appliance is the perfect antidote – and we say embrace the change.

Oh and here’s a tip: plum is the new “it” colour for appliance-fashionistas – and a couple of Morphy Richards appliances boasting this finish have just been put up at Appliances Online.Stay ahead of the trend and check them out here!
