What does the washing machine spin speed do and what is a good spin speed in a front load washing machine?

What is the spin speed?
Washing machine spin speed is the speed at which the tub spins when in the final cycle.
After your clothes have been washed in a front load washing machine, they are very wet. The washing machine will empty the water and the tub will spin around very fast to “wring” the water out of the clothes in an effort to dry the clothes and minimise the amount of time they have to spend drying on the line.
The faster the washing machine spin speed, the drier the clothes.
What spin speed do you need?
A good spin speed will vary on the type of fabrics you have in the machine (eg. Cotton, Synthetic, Wool, etc). The washing machine will have a default spin speed for the type of clothes (and program you have chosen). Wool will require a slower spin speed (around 600-800rpm), synthetic will need around 800-1000 rpm and cotton will need 900-1400rpm.
Sometimes, a higher washing machine spin speed is not always the best as it can crease cotton business shirts which means longer ironing time for you. However as a general rule, for washing of towels, sheets and casual wear, the faster the better as it reduces your drying time.
The spin cycle will remove stains from your clothes and will help reduce laundry water content. The faster the spin cycle is, the dryer your clothes will get. However, it is not ideal to choose a washer that has very fast spin speed. These washers have higher chances of breaking down easily. It tends to wear out the motor quickly.
