‘The Big Frieze’ – artist sketches cool drawings on fridge

Fridges & Freezers

Whenever I look at my fridge, I think: food. (Either that, or: ‘Gee I’m glad I bought this great quality Fisher & Paykel top mount refrigerator from Appliances Online!’).

Turns out I’m quite unimaginative. Because Charlie Layton, a Philadelphia-based artist, instead looked at his fridge and thought: canvas.

Realising that the surface of his fridge was made out of the same material as a whiteboard, Charlie started sketching quick 25 minute drawings every Friday, a project he dubbed ‘The Big Frieze’.

Quirky, clever, and remarkably detailed, these pictures soon caught the attention of the internet, and now Charlie’s art has been picked up as a news story around the world.

Check them out, they’re awesome!

Here at the Appliances Online Blog, we think this is the coolest thing since LG’s door-in-door technology. (I.e., extraordinarily darn cool).

And if you’re in need of a fridge (for art or perhaps also for food storage), you know where to find one – at the Appliances Online New Year Sale, fool! Ends soon, so it’s best you get your refrigerator now, not later! …Alligator!

Don’t like my jokes? Haters gonna hate …er.

(I’ll get my coat).

Apart from baking Louise also enjoys listening to alternative music, dying her hair various unnatural colours and writing poetry that has been described (by her Nan) as 'quite nice'. On her appliance wish list is a Hello Kitty toaster and 'Hero' the barking dog-shaped hot dog maker. She lives in Sydney. Google+

  1. Ephemeral art combined with practical food storage. Both Kool and cool.
