Great news! The Appliances Online ‘Did Your Appliances Survive Christmas?’ Sale is now on!

We’ve got massive discounts across our entire range of fridges, washing machines, ovens, dishwashers, TVs, small appliances, air conditioners, vacuums, BBQs and more! So if your appliances didn’t survive Christmas, now’s the best possible time to upgrade!

But wait! Before you bag yourself a bargain, remember to check the energy efficiency rating:

Note: the more stars, the more energy efficient the appliance.

Today, Origin Energy released a report which compared the most energy efficient appliances on the Australian market with the least energy efficient appliances to see how much money the average consumer could save in a year.

The results were significant, with savings of up to $254 per year reported for buying a 4.5 star washing machine (over a 1.5 star machine):

Combine the savings (of an energy efficient fridge, dishwasher, washing machine, clothes dryer, and LED TV), and you could pocket nearly $700 a year that would otherwise get spent on electricity bills.

So even though it might cost more upfront to buy energy efficient appliances, the price difference will eventually be recuperated over time via utility bill savings.

To make your life easier, Appliances Online allows you to shop based on the energy efficiency rating for each appliance.

You will see here on this front load washing machine page that only washers with a 4 star or above energy rating are displayed.

The same applies to this top mount fridge page (adjusted to display models with a 3 star or above energy rating) and this standard dishwasher page (displaying 4 stars or above).

Not only will an energy efficient appliance save you money, but it will also help the environment. Which is good! Cos having a large fridge is really no help to you when all your other human buddies have perished due to global warming.

So remember shoppers, go green this New Year’s at Appliances Online and SAVE – in more ways than one! And don’t forget to read: Save money on your power bill – tips for efficiently running your fridge and Are you ready for the carbon tax? – tips for cutting electricity bills.
