♪ No, I don’t want to scrub it
No, I don’t want to clean the tiles and
No, I don’t want to scour the bathtub
No, I don’t want none of this grime, but no

I don’t want no scrub
Scrubbing is a task that can’t get no love from me
I’d rather poke out my eyes
Til I bleed and die
Than give the floors a clean
No, I don’t want no scrub
Scrubbing is a task that can’t get no love from me
It gives me a pain in my side
And it makes me cry
Why can’t it just be easy? ♪

As this (slightly modified) RnB song from the Nineties demonstrates, scrubbing the floor is a lame chore that no one wants to do.

There are times when old-fashioned mopping doesn’t really cut it – not without a stack of chemicals and a lot of elbow grease, at least. Dirty grout, soap scum, scuff marks – these are all things which are difficult to clean using traditional methods. Not to mention the fact that harsh cleaning products can be bad both for the environment and for your health.

Earlier in this blog we’ve looked at using steam to clean your oven, iron your clothes, and even cook fish (in the dishwasher, obviously), but did you know you can also use steam to clean your floors?

The Appliances Online team recently got to play with a Bissell Lift-Off™ Steam Mop which, we’re thrilled to report, is awesome.

Just see how happy it made Nick:

The Bissell Lift-Off™ Steam Mop uses pressurised jets of hot steam to quickly remove dirt and grime while leaving your floors hygienically clean. (The intense heat of the steam can kill around 99% of bacteria and allergens).

Not only can it be used to clean floors, this steam mop comes with a detachable handheld steam pod that allows you to clean cooktops, basins, tiles, and much more.

See our cooktop before steam-cleaning:

And after:

All you need to do is fill the tank with water, switch it on, and away you go! A hygienically clean house can be yours with zero chemicals, and – yes that’s right folks – NO scrub!

Bissell also stocks steam carpet cleaners which made Nick similarly delirious with joy:

Cleaning this small patch of carpet in our meeting room…

…produced this much dirty water. Eeeeeeew!

Steam mop tips:

•    Vacuum or sweep up loose dirt first
•    Don’t put anything other than water in the tank
•    Change the mop head if it becomes dirty
•    Only use the steam mop on sealed floors and surfaces
•    Don’t use it to clean painted surfaces (paint could peel off)
•    Remove and launder the mop cloth after use
