Domestic ink – more appliance tattoos
April 19th, 2013
It’s been a while since our last look through the Internet’s near-bottomless collection of appliance tattoos. With household appliances playing such an important role in our everyday lives, it’s not really surprising that so many people immortalise them, and their by-products, in the form of body art.
Here’s our second collection of tattoos depicting appliances and products of an appliance-influenced lifestyle, from across the web:
Laundry Tattoos
While I’m not sure if many people actually LIKE doing work in the laundry, we do often end up spending a significant percentage of our time in there, and that experience can leave its mark on you – sometimes literally.
As we’ve seen before, laundry labels and instructions can be complex and/or strange, so it only makes sense to get them tattooed on for a permanent reference guide.
This washing machine tattoo is quite pretty. Or is it a dryer?
Kitchen and Cooking Tattoos
Some folks just love to cook. When struck with this feeling of affection, some people go onto Best Home Chef, while others express their feelings through body art.
Of course, cooking is SERIOUS BUSINESS. You live by the knife… well, you get the idea.
This guy loves his work. Clearly.
This person must love a classic oven design as well as their grandmother. Perhaps they’d also want to get inked with something from ILVE or Falcon too?
Microwaves are great! So convenient! So modern! So worth celebrating in tattoo form!
Though if you’re not 100% sold on the appearance of a microwave, you can always take a turn for the verse… (BOOM BOOM)
Cats in the fridge are indeed classics. This tattoo though…
Okay, this one isn’t actually real. But it is amazing! Heston would approve.
TV and Audio Tattoos
So much of our modern thought processes have been shaped by the idiot box and the Devil’s music, so it only makes sense that this is reflected in more than a few tatts.
AAAAAH! SNAAAAAKE! Must be a 3D TV.
It’s a classic with a lot of retro charm, but it’s hard to find one of these boxy TVs any more. Reckon the next generation of tattooists will be inking folks up with flatscreens?
A good set of headphones may make it sound like the singer is screaming directly into your ears, but if this were for real, I imagine you’d have to contend with lips and slimy tongues on your earlobes, not to mention the odd bite.
Parents, this is what will happen to your kids if you let them listen to too much dubstep (NOTE – not actually a medical fact).
Now, I’m no sound engineer, but I’m pretty sure this that keeping a microphone this close to headphones is a recipe for ear-splitting feedback.
Coffee and Tea Tattoos
Coffee and tea-drinking form an important part of many of our daily routines. If only you could permanently implant their restorative effects into your body just like you can a picture of the stuff in the form of a tattoo.
You don’t need to be a fully-trained barista to get good use out of many of the fully automatic coffee machines available from Appliances Online, but if you are a practitioner of that most-holy art, this tatt my appeal to you.
“Sleep is for the weak” is an unfortunately common sentiment among the coffee crowd. Not an entirely healthy one, but a powerful one.
“Death before decaf” – another motto for twitchy types.
Yes, this is much more civilised. Tea is very in at the moment, and you can make this moment last forever with this little motto painted beneath your flesh.
Of course, tea-drinking can also be a VERY TOUGH and MANLY activity. YEAH.
Small Appliance Tattoos
Milkshakes are very much a part of the retro rockabilly style that tattoos are often associated with, and this adorable example of one may indeed bring all the boys to the yard.
We mentioned our love of toasters the last time around, but there’s always room for more bread-preparation-related tatts. Especially ones involving cinnamon toast! Delish.
Barbeque Tattoos
Maybe it’s because their narrow profile fits better on the arm, but we’ve noticed that almost all BBQ tattoos are of those small charcoal-burning ones. Where are the four and six burner monsters?
Hopefully this tattoo hides the burn scars from one too many close call when flipping a snag.
